Must see before 27 January: 'Story Telling' - an exhibition of fashion photographer Tim Walker - photo installations and a selection of the extraordinary props and models on show! Admission: FREE @ Somerset House London

Visiting Tim Walkers exhibition 'Story Telling' feels like you entered a child’s storybook with lots of surreal pictures of Humpty Dumpty, The Giant Doll, Monty Python, James and the Giant Peach, or Swan Lake. Photographer Tim Walker (UK, 1970) turns fashion shoots for high-end magazines into fairy tails and stories or, in his own words, "daydreams into photographs". Looking at the images you assume that digital manipulation is king, but not at all. Analogue skilled, he never uses Photoshop. In stead he makes dreams come true with life-sized props, theatrical installations in the country side, smoke, light effects, dramatic settings. The image is just there, in front of the lens. To make you believe no computers are used, his famous props are on display too, here at the Somerset House in London, like the giant bisque porcelain doll that accompanied model Lindsey Wixon for a shoot in 2011 for Vogue Italy, a Spitfire flying into a room used for British Vogue in 2009, burned bowler heads, bowties and bisected spectacles for Vanity Fairs Monty Python portraits in the same year, giant skeletons, snails hanging on the walls, hairy insects playing instruments....what a delightful representation of the work of a giant story teller in the field of luxury fashion photography.

Go see this free (!) exhibition in the East Wing Galleries of Londons Somerset House (WC2R 1LA)

JUST FOR THE GUYS: 2nd edition of London's Fashion Week for Men LC:M has started - 3 days of Britain's best progressive tailoring for todays youth tribes and dapper men

For the second time the British Fashion Council hosts London's Fashion Week for Men, called LC:M (London Collections: Men) at the The Hospital Club in lovely Covent Garden area.
Three full days and evenings of menswear design events and parties. LC:M is representing a more promising list than it's debut event in June last year with Alexander McQueen and Tom Ford showing a renewed focus on menswear as well as Vivienne Westwood, Burberry, JW Anderson, E Tautz, Hardy Amies, and Jonathan Saunders. But there’s more, like the designer galleries at The Hospital Club where an edited selection of London’s most innovative and diverse menswear brands is showcased, encompassing both ready-to-wear and accessories collections like Sibling, Baartmans and Siegel, Christopher Raeburn, and Matthew MillerOn Tuesday evening Anna Dello Russo, Jo Levin, Matt Hobbs & Nicky Carter are hosting 'the fashion & art party' as Sir Paul Smith, Tinie Tempah & Dylan Jones host a private dinner to celebrate LC:M.
The three-day-long schedule will strengthen London's reputation as a hub of leading menswear design talent. Watch the video below where the members of the Menswear Committee tell us why they think British menswear - especially it's tailoring - is important and what makes it unique, e.g. "Womanswear seems to be more inventive, but at last men are catching up." - that's to be seen the coming days.
